Economics

A solid understanding of economics is crucial for both informed citizens and those aspiring to be business executives, civil servants, or social science researchers. The study of Economics equips individuals with the tools to analyze and address critical issues such as economic wellbeing, poverty, globalization, development and environmental sustainability

The Department of Economics, R.S.S. Science College, is committed to creating an environment that fosters academic excellence and encourages critical thinking. Our curriculum, developed under the New Education Policy, equips students with an in-depth understanding of economic theory, quantitative methods and applied economics. With a focus on both foundational and contemporary topics, students explore areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical methods, Indian economy, econometrics, and international trade. Our aim is to ensure that graduates are fully equipped to continue their education at prestigious institutions and to pursue successful careers in academia, government, business, and international organizations. We focus on developing the skills and knowledge necessary for them to excel in both further studies and professional fields.

The revised Economics syllabus presents vast opportunities for students to build promising careers in fields such as banking, finance, government, NGOs, and multinational corporations. Our teaching methods emphasize experiential learning through project work, presentations, debates, written assignments, and cooperative learning. For continuous internal assessment, the department implements a comprehensive evaluation system that includes class tests, mid-term exams, and assignments. Additionally, the department places significant emphasis on organizing seminars and debates to foster intellectual engagement and enhance critical thinking skills among students. Our goal is to develop economically literate individuals who can make meaningful contributions to society and the global economy
